Sharon's Methods

The furniture features traditional joinery methods allowing for wood movement as well as providing strength and ensuring the longevity of the piece. These include hand-cut dovetails, sliding dovetails, spline-miter and mortise and tenon joints. Sharon integrates the use of hand and power tools in the construction and detailing of each heirloom-quality piece.

The whole design of a piece is considered when choosing the wood. Each board is chosen carefully, paying attention to details such as grain patterns and color and considering how each will be arranged or cut and placed in the piece. This emphasizes the natural beauty of the wood and enhances the beauty of the piece.

shell Ball and Claw The finishes are employed according to need and desire (or form and function.) Sharon uses shellac, fillers, dyes, stains, as well as oil and varnish finishes and polyurethane. Some of the furniture she has built features a layered shellac finish with dyes and stains, building depth and bringing out the character of the wood

These methods produce heirloom quality furniture that is beautiful to look at, as well as being functional and decorative in nature. The furniture is individually made to customer specifications, and each joint is hand fitted ensuring a good quality fit. wood inlays
