About Sharon Newton
Sharon Newton has been building furniture for over 25 years.
She builds furniture using traditional time-honored joinery and techniques, integrating
the use of hand and power tools. She has taken courses in hand-tool joinery, hand carving
and shaping as well as Period furniture-making techniques from an English-trained furniture
maker and director of Willow Tree Academy of Fine Woodworking, Joe Trippi.
Sharon has degrees in Mathematics and Engineering. She is married and has 2 boys.
She and her husband live in Canton, Michigan, where he is a Lutheran pastor.
She is delighted to provide people with quality hand made furniture that will grace their
homes and churches for a lifetime. And she is willing to work on small or large commissions, in order to
best serve the needs of each customer. To date, at customer request, she has crafted large built-ins measuring 33 feet in length and 7 feet high, with drawers, shelving and a window seat, as well as a small hinged box 3 x 5 x 1 1/2 inches, to carry an antique communion set.
